Floridablanca

Woman with Scythe and Serpent Reflected in a Mirror
La mujer vibora

Etching
20 x 15cm
Banco de Espana, Madrid

This etching, like some of Goya's drawings (and paintings like viejas) are considered moral messages, or satirical jabs. The mirror acts as an agent of judgment upon the subject peering in, usually oblivious to the reflected message which is plainly communicated to the audience seeing the artwork.
